It is a common misconception that old novels and classics are boring and too long. One book though, never fails to interest me.
The well known classic, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen is an amazing and catchy book. It was written in 1813 and is considered to be the authors most famous novel.

The Gist of the Story
The story revolves around the lives of the Bennet family which consists of a sarcastic father, a silly and loud mother who cares too much of her nerves, and five daughters, namely: Jane, Elizabeth (Lizzy), Mary, Catherine (Kitty), and Lydia.
The protagonist of the book is Elizabeth Bennet, the eldest but one of the five girls. She is the most witty and intelligent of the five and has the best attitude. Jane is considered to have the sweetest disposition of the lot but is sometime shown as being too gullible and kind.

One day, in the quite countryside of Meryton, a ball is held and the Bennet sisters (espicially the youngest two, Kitty and Lydia,) are ecstatic to attend it as news has spread that two of the most wealthiest men in England will be attending.
Mr Charles BIngley, one of the wealthy men, would have just moved into the biggest house in the countryside and would be bringing his two obnoxious sisters, his brother in law, and the other main character, Mr Darcy to the ball.
After the Bingley party arrive, the ball goes on very well and Mr Bngley seems to take a liking to Jane Bennet. He is a joyful and friendly man who enjoys dancing a lot and does so with many people at the ball.

His friend however, is his polar opposite. He is reserved and quite and does not enjoy dancing at all. He doesn't even dance one dance with anyone and when he is asked to do so with Elizabeth, he declines by saying that she is not pretty enough to temp him.
And that is where the hatred starts between the two.

Mr Darcy soon begins to fall in love with Lizzy because of her wit and charm. She however, does not like him at all for quite a portion of the book. The book is filled with twists and turns and unexpected proposals by unexpected people. It is very interesting to read how things go down and how slowly, even she starts liking Mr Darcy.
Book Adaptations
The 2005 film, Pride and Prejudice was a success and is probably the most well known adaptation of the novel. It is a good movie with many of the lines copied from the book, which makes it even better. | The other well known adaptation is the 1995 TV series which consists of 6 episodes. It was a major hit and was aired on BBC. I personally like this TV adaptation more than the movie. Most of the dialogues are copied from the book and unlike the movie, they show each and every scene from the book. |
