Nandi Hills is a beautiful range of hills located in Bangalore, India. I still remember bits and pieces of my trip to these hills. The things I can recollect clearly are the funny and slightly scary incidents that took place on these wonderful hills.
My first encounter with monkeys.
Before going to Nandi Hills, I thought that I wasn't afraid of animals and that carrying a packet of chips was not dangerous. Well, I was very wrong.
On the second day of our trip, my sister and I bought a packet of Lay's and were walking towards the guest house. I noticed that a small monkey had been following us for quite a while. I didn't bother and we continued walking.
Suddenly, about 5-6 monkeys jumped down from trees and surrounded us. They looked really scary. One came near us and started reaching for the chips that my sister was clutching at for dear life. I was screaming my head off and probably looked really funny.
Monkey number 1 grabbed the chips packet and ran up a tree while monkey number 2, 3, 4, and 5 continued to stare at us. Monkey number 6 grabbed hold of my jacket and started running up another tree when my grandfather took it back and started shooing away the others.

The case of the missing bread
One weird thing that happened on Nandi Hills was the disappearance of the bread we had taken with us. We had packed some bread just in case we felt hungry on the way. On the first day, we kept the food cover along with our luggage near the window. The next day, we realised that the bread was missing. We found it out on the terrace and it looked like it had been torn and bitten.
Im pretty sure the monkeys had taken it but I don't know how since the windows and doors were locked.

Monkey in the car
After my rendezvous with the scary monkeys, I was terrified of them to say the least. We were driving back from our short stay on the hills and we stopped at a restaurant to have lunch. My mom, grand mom, sister, and I were in the car when we suddenly saw a monkey pounce on the windshield. We had a bag of food on the passenger's seat and it was trying to get it. I have never been more irritated with bags of food than I was at that point of time. The window on the driver's side was open and the monkey was trying to get in. I was super scared and was desperately trying to get the monkey to go away by doing nothing. The driver saw what was going on and quickly rushed back and shooed the monkey away.
Even though all of these incidents scared me to a great extent, I really enjoyed my trip to Nandi Hills. It is a really picturesque and beautiful place to go to. I loved my stay there.
